Mommy and Daddy arrive at Sparrow, ready to bring home their miracle girls. Mommy and Daddy did a trial run Saturday night (8/23) and spent the night at the hospital in a private room with the girls (still in a single crib and hooked to monitors - but no one else in the room all night). No one got much sleep that night, but there were no issues for either girl.
Dr. Olomu gives the girls their final assessment and gives the okay that they can be released.
Favorite nurse, Elizabeth. She was one of the girls' following nurses who was scheduled to work on their day of release.
Favorite nurse, Bonnie. She was also a following nurse who made a special trip into the RNICU on her day off to see her girls go home.
Favorite nurse, Jillian. She was also a following nurse and was just back from her honeymoon the day before and made a special trip into the RNICU on her day off to see her special twins go home.
Favorite nurse, Stephanie (another one of the girls' following nurses who had worked their last night, so she could not be present for departure from the unit).
Another favorite nurse, Colleen (also worked their last night).
Madison and Kaitlyn's dream team that "followed" them - Jillian, Elizabeth, Bonnie, and (not pictured) Stephanie.
Finally ready to go.
Exiting the RNICU.
Nurse Elizabeth was the escort until they exited Sparrow. The wonderful nursing staff has become like extended family and will always hold a special place in their hearts. The next stop was to visit Dr. Roth in the connected professional building.
Dr. Roth started following Keri's special-case pregnancy at 13 weeks and brought the girls into the world. It seemed only right to stop by his office to let him see the miracle girls on their release date.
A wonderful success story for these "24 weekers!"
Cut loose and going home.
